we have a mexican girl 23 years old that has been working for us for the past year. she speaks no english at all. she works 11 hours a day and is the only mexican there along with my mom and cousin. i try to converse with her to keep her from being bored but conversation is somewhat difficult. i know some spanish because i took 3 years in high school. we had some decent conversations before and i try to talk to her everyday. she only speaks when i talk to her and never talks to me. she is not a shy person. when i stand next to her it feels awkard like she is trying to avoid eye contact with me and she looks uncomfortable when im close. should i just stop trying to speak to her.

In some Mexican families it is considered rude to look directly at someone when they are talking to you. Also, since you are her employers kid, she may be worrying about her job.

Yes you should!!!! You are making her very uncomfortable. She does not realize that you are just being friendly, she might think that you would like to shack up with her. (are you?)

Leave her alone, and let her do her job. Don't rock the boat..

No, she's just shy and uncomfortable and looks at you with respects and as the authority of which she doesn't want to to the slightest to offend.

You don't say if you are a male or female. If you are a male; she may think that you are trying to make a pass. She may not be interested in you. I can't see any other reason.
