Good Samaritan is mentioned in the Bible Luke 10:33

But it means to be charitable or helpful person who is kind hearted, and willing to help those less fortunate than themselves, or in need of help or assistance. And does not expect anything in return.

Check the Bible (Luke 10:30-37) and you would find the origin of the term "Good Samaritan".

Samaritans were descendants of Jacob but in that time were not really considered Jewish people, generally considered enemies or outcasts.
So it's interesting to see that Jesus told a story contrasting two respected icons of the Jewish community passing a helpless man versus the kindness of the outcast/enemy of the state. It's like a Palestinian deciding to care for an Israeli POW.

Now, of course, its meaning is more general: a kindly stranger who selflessly helps his fellow man without expecting anything in return. This could range from a boy helping an old lady across the street to a Jewish doctor curing a ex-Nazi soldier just after WWII. I personally prefer the latter example.

A person from Samaria helped a Judean stranger who was injured and near death along the road to Jerusalem. Today it means to give someone a hand or be kind above and beyond the call of duty.IT is to be NOTED that the Judeans and SAMARIANS literally HATED each other because of religious differences. So it took a hell of a lot of guts for the dude to help the other 'cause had people from his sect found out he could and probably would have been
'stoned" to DEATH !!(chunked to death by lame asses with rocks)
