whenever i press lightly on the upper part of my stomach it hurts and i dont know why please help

Go see a doctor no one here can diagnose you. A doctor couldn't do it positively without an exam and more information than that. Just because you've never had gas pain like that doesn't mean that's not what it is. There are dozens of things it could be.

In nursing class we went over stomach pains today. This is mostly caused when gas is disstending the stomach wall and the intestines. A nice fart will most likely do the trick.

may be you got an appendicitis it may include pain in the abdomen, first around the belly button, then moving to the lower right area, but you dont really seem to know where it hurts exactly so i suggest you to consult your Dr asap.
