yank it & get a good small block. 'course you'd have to swap out the 'puter too. if that's the ohc 3.4, careful beating on it, cuz it WILL blow.

The real question is how much are you willing to spend. A cold air intake will cost much less than a ram air kit. A ram air kit is also a cold air intake. In essence the ram air kit is the next step up from the cold air intake and should include an air box, filter, various tubes depending on what kind you get, and a hood that will need to be painted. Any gains that you see from a cold air intake will be greater on a ram air kit. Who cares if your revving the motor high at low speeds or running 130mph, with a ram air kit you'll still be getting cool dense air into the motor. You're best performance will come from a ram air kit, but they are normally significantly more expensive than a cold air kit.

A 383 stroker motor is the only solution for 3.4L. Ram air doesn't matter to a 3.4L engine as it is severely limited on how much air it realistically use, due it's valve configuration. True cold air is denser and provides more power, but you won't see that much an increase. Cold air would be the best option IMHO.

If you're gonna be high reving at lower vehicle speeds cold air will work well, but if you're going for top end the ram air can pack more air because of the higher air pressure resulting from vehicle .speed. Applies for pretty much any engine

cold air intake produces more hp cause it is lower to the ground and takes in colder dense air from outside of the hot engine compartment but you have to worry about "hydrolock" thats where water from puddles is sucked into the engine through the air intake
