Anything is possible but that's one that may not happen for economic reasons. The Cubbies laid out a ton of cash this year on free agents. Alex will not go cheaply if he indeed opts out of his 25 Million per year deal with the Yankees. If he has a great year the Yankees will step up and renegotiate as only the Yankees can. If he doesn't have a good year the Yankees will be praying that he opts out.

Chicago sports radio loves to talk about A-Rod coming to the Cubs to be with Lou Piniella.
If the Cubs got A-Rod, anything less than a World Series title would be a disappointment. The talent on that team would be unbelievable.

Soriano
Derrek Lee
Aramis Ramirez
A-Rod

The whole NL would be scared to pitch against those 4 guys.

Yes that would be good. Maybe then they could get Albert Pujols, Vlad Guererro, Chase Utley, Johan Santana, and Mariano Rivera. But then again they would all be Cubs and then dissapoint their fans. Probably finish third in there division.

He won't be a cub for now, because they already have one of the bigggest payrolls, and don't have money to pay that huge contract of US $250 MM, of US$ 25 MM per year.

So you won't be seeing Alex in this years near that club...

Yes, A-Rod has an option on his contract which would allow him to go elsewhere. Lou Pinella is the manager there and he and Lou have a great relationship going back to his days in Seattle. Apparently, the media isn't as brutal as they are in New York (that part I doubt). It's definitely a possibility.

it could happen. Arod wants to play SS again. Cubs might work it out with yanks.

Not a chance, A-Ram is solid and they don't have a $200 million need to replace him. But there may a need on the south side for a 3B...

That'd be cool. The Yankees would trade for Zambrano cause they need the pitching.

It doesn't matter. They'll never win the World Series.
