Not much of a theory really. 'Pot' produces psychiatric disturbances, physical brain damage and IS addictive, so its not much use for anything really!

The only cure or at least a means of remission is to lose weight and then control your sugar intake. This in turn will maintain your lower weight and the amount of insulin your pancreas produces will cope with the demand. Nice idea though but it can only be a short term expediency. Also if the blood sugar falls too much you become weak and could, under extreme circumstances fall into a coma.

could help manage, but there are better ways to do it (like excercising, having a good diet, insulin, or insulin sensitizing drugs). and no it wouldnt cure it, it would just lower your blood sugar for a couple hours. so unless you were smoking pot all day it wouldnt be a very good treatment. plus like you said it gives you the munchies, and +90% of type 2 diabetes is caused from being overweight, not excercising, and having a bad diet so its not really good to get those people to be eating more

There are different types of diabetes and you could get low blood sugar and need sugar, I am fully aware of someone that has to rush to get a regular can of soda or anything with sugar if they are getting sick because of LOW BLOOD SUGAR. So if they did your theory then they would be in trouble probably.

It's not really a cure is it? It would be basically the same as taking the insulin anyway but getting stoned would stop you from being able to do your daily activities. Sound highly pointless to me even if it is a valid point (which I'm not sure if it is).

I used to smoke pot but when I got the munchies I wanted Tootsie Rolls and stuff like that so it didn't help my diabetes much!

I wouldn't look forward to the millions with diabetes driving their cars, working raising their kids etc. stoned, would you? If the idea has any validity they would need to isolate the constituent in pot that has the desired effect and try using that.

That is only going to provide temporary relief from the condition and would most likely not last long term. I would not recommend it because I think that the affects would be more negative than good.
