Respect others. If they need silence to work and you need music...get an iPod and some headphones.
Don't goof around if there's work to be done. Nothing ticks off people more than someone skippin' out on work because they're flirting or telling jokes. That stuff needs to be done on break time. If you like to joke...do so while continuing to work.
Be nice. Even if you're in a bad mood, put on a smile...other people will feel better if you at least look like you're in a good mood.
Don't argue. If you're not getting along with a co-worker...take it someplace besides where customers can see or hear you. If you have to just walk away and don't say a word, then do! It's better to ignore someone you don't like than to disturb a whole group.
Be clean. If you have a job that has a lot of tools or supplies you need...organize them and be neat about it even if you're not a neat person normally. No one likes to clean up after someone else and messes in the workplace can cause injury and even slow down production.

Some are so obvious.
Here's what I want from an employee.
Be neat and clean. Don't let what you wear be a distraction.
Be punctual. If you're going to be late, call.
Good attendance. Don't abuse "calling in sick."
Learn the rules, such as breaks, lunch . eating at desk, personal use of phone, computer, etc. If you aren' sure, ask .
What I want must of all, is caring. Of course, I expect accuracy and speed.
If you make a mistake, big deal. Please, just don't make too many of them, or make them too big. But learn from them, and check your work. The job is not a joke.
ABOVE ALL- we work together. My department has a mission. let's work together and do the job right, that way no one bothers us. If youhave a problem with something, that's why I'm there. Come to me first if I am your supervisor.

Behave in the same way your colleagues behave. Be friendly, but don't smile too often. Act like an expert of sth, but don't overact.

This depends on where you work. I'm sure there is a difference in acceptable behavior in a crappy bar and a CPA firm.
