I believe beauty contests are good for girls as the process/preparation teaches the girls discipline, great self esteem and good eating habits.

Good for Beauties and not for normal Girls, either way good for boys to enjoy the skin

good for community , but not always good for everybody, because not all girls regard themselves good-to-look-at , and even when they are not contestant , they somehow involved in the events and might feel inferior or helpless. you know ,humans are not only to look at . good lookingness is definitely merit for humans but we have many other points to be observed .and if beautiful-ness is to be praised , it should not be for women alone.

here in Hungary we just call it "horse-fair"
but at this point we should decide what is "good" and what is "wrong".
if its good that they learn how to "appear", how to walk elegantly etc., it can be good, or, if a girl wins and she can make a really nice carreer - it can be good.
BUT if i think of those girls whose life went wrong after winning the crown, or just participating a pageant - i would say NO, it is not good. happiness cannot be measured in beauty.

No, because I think every person should know the girl who beautiful by her talent by her thinking not by her look

absolutely not !!!!! girls r 2oooo sensitive....and they will think that beauty & style r the only things 2 be maintained.
it's my request 2 all the girls, who r tooo much worried about their beauty.......plzzzz try 2 develope a good personality, it will automatically reflect u..... but always stay clean & healthy !!

I totally agree with "NOORAL".......
I know every girl wants to be there....., becoz we people only see that FAME, or u can say the 'bright' side....
bUT the reality is something else.......
But whether u wanna participate or not, want fame or not, would like to live that life... it depends person to person...

not really...it teaches young girls that they can only depend on their beauty for self esteem and even career wise..it teaches them to be materialistic

it depends on the girl .If she is not beatiful and is not selected it is not good for her and if the girl is beatiful she will be selected and contest is good for her.
