The triangle is a right angled triangle. Since we are not given which is which side, we can assume that x is the hypotenuse and so have 6^2 + 8^2 = x^2

36 + 64 = 100 = x^2 So x = 10

So, the three sides are 6, 8 and 10.

Remember that 3, 4 and 5 are the sides of a right angled triangle and the above is just a bigger version of the same.

There are two possibilities:
6^2 + 8^2 = 10^2
8^2 - 6^2 ≈ 5.3^2

is x the hypotenuse or a leg?
if hypotenuse
x^2=8^2+6^2
x^2=64+36
x^2=100
x=10

if leg
x^2=8^2-6^2
x^2=64-36
x^2=28
x=2√7=5.3
