I have sown it directly in the garden. I don't use the leaves, just the seeds, so I don't mind if it bolts. For several years now, it comes up by itself, I just have to watch for the seedlings when working that area. They resemble parsley. This is a mild moist climate, so maybe that makes a difference. If you want the leaves, I would advise sowing in succession and cutting off the flower stems to prolong the leafy period.

Are you starting them in pots, or in the garden? Mine grow well outside. http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/hortcult/herbs/ne208hrb.htm#Coriander

Ignore the crap out of it except to water and trim off the seed head close to the base of the plant to keep the foliage.

Good advice...also, try to avoid planting in a windy location. Don't know why but the ones on my patio get "bruised" when it gets windy.
