Please suggest some relaxing music. My music collection is all metal. I need music to help me concentrate not get me riled up.
I'll take any suggestions but:
No top40/pop stuff please,
Good lord jesus christ, no christian stuff please
point me in all kinds of directions thanks.

Try Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66. I listen to mostly industrial/gothic, so when I needed to relax once, I robbed this from my family music collection. They're pretty soft and soothing and easy to play in the background; lots of sixties and seventies stuff is, depending on the band

I second Damien Rice - His lyrics are also fairly condusive to matal lyrics in a weird way. Very slow, masterful music.
Check out singer/songwriters like Bright Eyes and Eliot Smith. Hardcore attitudes in light music. Most metal fans really end up digging on Bright eyes - it's worth a listen.

Hmm, Robert Miles is always relaxing, Bone Thugs N Harmony are fairly relaxing for Gangsta Rap, Depeche Mode's later stuff is good for that, Babylon Zoo is relaxing, though a bit loud at times and quite trippy.

try shuggie otis...the music has a very moderate tempo but the lyrics are very random so you can relax easily.
