No the only way that it would effect the flying plane is if once that flying plane decided to land, if the earthquake was massive enough to destroy the runway at the airport then I think thats when the plane would be effected.

Actually, if its low enough it might be affected by weird weather effects. The dilation of the earth before an earthquake can release charged particles and gas into the atmosphere causing lightning storms etc.
Seems unlikely to affect a plane, but you never know!

The people on the plane may hear the rumbling of the earthquake if they are flying low enough, but the sound waves would not affect the operation of the airplane.

well airplanes need control towers to help them with directioning especially in cloudy or in rain storms...when ur above the cloud line u cant use anything u see on the ground to help u navigate bcuz ull be staring at clouds....so if the earthquake destroys the control towers...yea then planes screwed!
