In one simple answer : yes

However,,,
I'm sure you already know that there are many "flavors" of routers...

The Bigger question is, How are you going to use this router.

A router can support many functions, as DHCP server, Firewall functions...Are all the PC inside having thier own IP address, are they going to have share 1 address for access to the Internet???

Based on the function(s) and feature(s) you plan on using a router dictates how much power your router needs to have.

Getting back to the question at hand. Yes 1 router can handle 3000 PC but based on functionc/features, at what speed..

At this point I would seriously consider consulting a professional for specific models to best fit your need, and not leave this in the hands of us yahoo's...

Anywho Hope this helps

You could use a number of different kinds of routers- even if the router itself cannot hook them up, you could get yourself a switch (used to be called a hub) with enough ports to link them through your router. I would suggest that you have a good router and good security software if your network has 3,000 computers.

can, yes. recommended, no. you only have so much bandwidth with your ISP. with the 3000:1 ratio, you'll be waiting forever to log in, log out, visit websites.

i would definitely use more than one. i'd say at LEAST 3.
