Why must all the small teams be left out of the speculation for the round of 16 in the World Cup?

Because in competition they get beat out on the road to the World Cup. Anyone can make it to the World Cup you just have to beat out all your competition... Every cup different teams make it and some of the favorites don't... In 2002 I was cheering for Turkey and they never made it in 2006 though they won the bronze in 2002.

Countries like Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, France have amazingly talented players and very skilled tough leagues... Its stiff competition in their own country, the best of the best play in those leagues.. Croatia usually makes it too, Serbia and Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are pretty new countries that only were formed when the Former Yugoslavia fell apart about that horrific war that happened between the Croatians and the Serbs (might remember the Bosnian movie "No Man's Land" that won an Oscar)... Serbia and Montenegro was only formed in 2003...

Other countries are catching up, the fact that an European team won in 2006 has been a long time coming. They have had a drought for quite a few World Cups... At least it wasn't the Brazilians again, as long as it someone else that is all I care...

b/c they are small teams. germany will have "on average" a better team than T&T . that's not to mean that T&T won't pull off a few wins, but on any given day germany will win because it has better resources in funding, training, coaching, and a bigger player base to pull from. that goes with pretty much any big country that embraces soccer... (i mean football :P)

THANKS FOR MAKING SURE TO EXCLUDE THE WORLD CHAMPS MORON...BUT THE SMALLER TEAMS DONT MAKE IT TO THE LAST 16 BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO WIN AGAINST MORE TALENTED TEAMS, THEREFORE NOT MAKING IT FURTHER IN THE COMPETITION
