Kate Blanchett is fantastic¡...No?

I liked it, yes. I don't know that I would ever own it, but it was definitely worth watching. Dame Judi Dench was spine-tingling and intense. I simultaneously felt bad for her and furious at her.
Cate was incredible as usual, but in general I love her in EVERYTHING. And she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.
At any rate, I completely believed both their characters, which, for me, is what makes a film watchable. If you can suspend your belief long enough to forget you're watching a movie and feel like you're actually in it, that's a good film.
So, yeah, I liked it, I took something away from it, but would I want to watch it again? Probably not. I usually don't go in for drama because it depresses me, and this movie sort of did too. I prefer movies that are happy and make me feel good. :P

It's a good film but as much as I like Cate Blanchett I think Judi Dench was the best thing about it. She was so spot on and convincing - just amazing.

Haven't seen the film yet, but have read the book & found it very good. It's one of the few books where I 'took something away' - that I'm not ever going to be a bitter, judgmental old bat! The book was also good at conjuring up the feeling of the boy's bedroom, the smell, the carpet & the furnishings. The ending was one that left you to make up your own mind what happened, so I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the end in the film.

I really enjoyed this, not least for the debates it seems to have caused, and for the fact that the audience was so wide for it. Dame Judi acted brilliantly as normal, and Cate was brilliant as well. It's a very intriguing story, and I think it's just a shame that it lost out to The Queen, awards-wise.

This was undoubtedly one of the best films I have ever seen. The acting was incredible especially Judi Dench, who in my opinion deserved an Oscar for her performance.

I haven't seen the film yet but you should read the book if you haven't already done so. Its excellent. I always think that books are better than the films. You get a picture in your mind about the characters and it is always spoiled when you watch the film, they are never quite what you have in your mind.
