I think he did die. I think that he already knew what was going to happen to him and spoke to Snape about killing him instead of letting any of the students(malfoy) do the job. If this was to arise.
He did not want any of the students no matter how bad they were commit murder. I hope this makes sense.

Yes dumbledore died he is dead im sory to say it but its true if ya dont belive me go to www.muglenet.com and go to the book seven section and then go under debunked rumors you will find out that jk herself said that he was dead and hes not coming back the thing though he might be able to help harry from the picture that all headmasters get when they die asming that harry gets in to hogwarts somehow and gets in the new headmasters office well actully headmistriss office sence right now it is profeser magonagal

I like to think that there is some part of him that is tucked away somewhere. But what I wonder is if part of Voldemort's soul is actually put into Harry's body? Remember the Horcrux's? I wonder if you could put one into somebody else.

He died. It wouldn't make sense for them to kill him off just to bring him back for the last book. I think he has to stay dead so that Harry can do whatever he has to do in the story as a wizard and not a student anymore. My thoughts are whether Harry will return to Hogwarts for his last year or not at this point.

I don't think that Dumbledore would kill anyone so that he could split his soul... I got suspicious that something was weird at the funeral because they did not show his body. but i'm pretty sure that he's dead

Yup, I think he's really dead. But I think he's not dead the way we imagine him to be. I mean, he can still talk to Harry through a portrait and he can give orders and stuff so he's not really dead per se. He's just stuck in that little frame.

Consider his motif - the phoenix. Recall in the first book how Fawkes explodes and then rises from his own ashes. Foreshadowing? Perhaps!
