Intel Core 2 Duo is better because its using the latest technology then AMD x2.Besides that, Core 2 duo is still very expensive at the moment because AMD didn't came out as high end as intel so far.Amd only came out in x2 processor vs pentium dual core.If in this spec. the AMD would be better.

my answer is, yes AMD is equal to intel duo core because amd is 64 bits and intel is 32bit ,noe newly duo is dual core which is equal to 64 bit , Earlier when AMD is launched in market the size of the processor is too big and it produces high heat, then they had stopped that product and now they had launched a new processor without any failures and very compatable to the current generation. As they maintained the same standards and relaunched the product it is available at the same price in the market as per their standards.

INTEL has always been more expensive because of their "copy exactly" process insuring that every processor, no matter where it comes from is the same. (Yeah, well that was when they manufactured exclusively in the US, don't know how it is now that they have thrown in with the commies.
AMD used to me made in Canada, pretty good processors, video card (ATI) but they have moved completely to China. I wouldn't purchase another AMD product if that was all I could get.

Core 2 Duo all the way, and it is NOT expensive for the performance you get.

x2 slower processors usually, but with integrated memory controller will often out perform the faster thinking but slower memory addressing c2d, depending upon apps thou, over all comparable chips from either vendor are so fast that the only bottle neck you get that slows down performance is hard drive transfer rates, so take either for a new machine it'll blow your socks off. as to why intel is more $$ they always are, think its got to do with their popularity, and the fact that amd is usually just behind them in performace specs
