Cysts on the Ovaries generally arent bad. Unless she has Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome which can cause infertility and hormonal problems. But if she already has kids she probably isnt worried about it. If the Dr. did an ultrasound and he said its ok then there shouldnt be anything to worry about. An ultrasound will usually show if there is a problem.

Generally speaking, an ovarian cyst is not a big deal. If it is larger, or if it is what is called a "dermoid cyst", doctors usually remove it with a very simple out patient surgery. Smaller cysts often go away all by themselves.

This is very common and usually resolve by them self within a month. Someone mentioned dermoid cysts (not that I think your mother has one) but they are pre-malignant growths stemming from abnormal skin or hair tissue in the ovary and should always be removed. It has nothing to do with size of a cyst.

It's probably benign if the doctor did not press the panic button. If he was very concerned, it could have been ovarian cancer.

They're actually pretty common and not as big a deal as they sound. My daughter has them and has had them since age 13,she's 20 now, they don't seem to bother her much. No worries.
