Either True Grit or The Shootist.

Those are the only 2 John Wayne movies I like, but they were great.

True Grit had some excellent scenic shots and The Shootist was a great performance by everybody. It also had Ron Howard, Lauren Bacall, James Stewart, Richard Boone, Harry Morgan, John Carradine, and Scatman Crothers....an all-star cast with great performances by all of them.

Also it was John Wayne's last movie (he was dying of cancer) about an old-west gunfighter who had out-lived his time and was also dying of cancer around the turn of the century.

The Searchers, Rio Bravo, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and McLintock with John Wayne. Sorry but The Duke made sooo many good movies that I couldn't pick just one. :)
