seems I've tried everything over the years..nothing seems to last or be fullfilling very long. I don't seem to have found my 'nitch' in life,so to speak, and often wonder why that is.

It seems like you could be suffering symptoms of a serious type of depression. Everything you just said sounds just like a pharmaceutical commercial. I would schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist. Many people have serious cases of depression, and don't even know it. Depression is a chemical imbalance that can be treated effectively with medication. If you are diagnosed with a form of depression, and start the medicine, you could find your nitch in no time at all.

Anticipation is more pleasing then the reality of completion. Without our imagination nothing is worth attempting. We therefore need new mountains to climb. As a kid I wanted a certain toy - gotta have it - I get it - not so high quality, seems it doesn't do what I thought it could, broke quickly thank god my interest wain and now there was a new gizmo - gotta have it.
This ebb & flow of need, wants and the reality of achievement is what keeps are interests flowing. Be happy - invision walking thru life with some ragedy old stuf animal that aunt Maltida gave you and at 44 years ofage your happy go lucky sucking your thumb.

That's what life is all about. The goals of yesterday seem absurd today, only to be substituted by new ones which, in their turn, will seem abrurd tomorrow. But there seems to be a spiralling upward motion, a constantly ongoing development to life which we will probably see and understand only from a distance.
At least that's my experience. But what it is not, is depression. There is no medication for life.

to be honest, the answes to all the problems, lies within you and your higher power, NOT religion...but spiritual thirst...when you have doubts about life, is not really you causing it...it's negative energy around you that causes it...and when you feel down, those energies feed off of you, as they laugh their way in misery, because that is where all the negative energy and people lay, in misery. Surrendering to love, peace and understanding of the universe through self discovery about your surroundings. The planet is the classrom and life itself is the lesson, that is why so important to knowthyself, in order tohelp yourself and others. i found my purpose in life, and i no longer need to feel sad or clueless about life, i'm not making this up, yes i have times i get mad, sad or even depressed, as i once felt...but asking your higher power to help you is really the answer, you can read all the books, everyone is telling you to read, and they might be interesting and helpful...at the end, the author of those books, will not really provide the water your soul demands. keep faith and trust, in anything you do, on your higher power behalf, and watch how life, lil by lil, will come together...is quite a puzzle let me add, however, there is plenty of positive energy around this beautiful earth.

Read the first book of C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. Start with the first book, it's not even about Christianity per se, but it articulates what you're feeling inside of you better than you can describe it yourself. It's amazing.
