My shoulders are double jointed and I occasionally took the medicine before I was pregnant, But am unsure if it's safe for the baby to take it now. I want to ask my doctor but my first appointment is not for another 2 1/2 weeks. Someone please help me!!!

Are you saying you are pregnant or you are a new mom? Either way, that medicine is fine. It's funny, they're like the only two drugs you can take while pregnant (that is tylenol and sleep aides)

I can't believe the number of people saying no, and even a thumbs down! Seriously, this is information straight from my doctor to you. If you don't believe me about tylenol pm, then erring on the safe side would be taking regular tylenol and then an over the counter sleeping pill. Either way, you are in pain. Don't listen to the people that are trying to make you suffer unneccesarily.

I dont think it is safe to take. Tylenol would be fine though. I know it doesnt work well, but its better than nothing. I also have back problems and wasnt sleeping well. I woke up at 4am one night and went to the er because my head hurt sooo much. I ended up having a massage that day for my headache, it got rid of my headache and I have been sleeping much better since. That would be a safe alternitive to tylenol pm. Just make sure if you go, that you go to someone who has experience with pregnancy massage. Good Luck

Any doctor will tell you that taking tylenol by itself is safe. The sleeping part of the tylenol pm is generic benadryl. Benadryl is safe for newborns in small doses, but if you are taking large doses to fall asleep it's hard to determine how much is going into your breastmilk.

I don't think you can take the PM. I would call the pharmacist or my doctor first. Just to be on the safe side. I know the Tylenol by itself is totally fine in moderation, the PM part is iffy.

No it is not safe for you or the baby. If you cannot make it until your scheduled appointment then call your OB's office and speak with the nurse and ask for her opinion. She may be able to get your appointment time moved on up. However, you must learn to endure during these next 9 months. Don't get discouraged if she or he cannot move the appointment time up or they cannot recommend anything for you to take or use. In the meantime, try to use your breathing to relax yourself and this should help somewhat. I do wish you well and congratulations on the baby.

You can take tylenol, but I don't know about tylenol pm. When I had a question like that I would call the clinic & ask to speak to my midwife or their nurse & then ask my question. If it was after hours you could try calling a 24 hour pharmacy.

No. Tylenol PM has the same thing in it that is in benadryl. You can take plain tylenol but do NOT take tylenol PM until you consult your doctor. I know that when I was breastfeeding the only safe medications were sudafed and tylenol.

most doctors will tell you that taking tylenol pm while your pregnant is ok. i'm 31 weeks pregnant now and my doctor told me when i had my first apointment at 8 weeks that i could take tylenol and tylenol pm for pain. but she told me that tylenol is the only thing that is safe to take for pain while your pregnant.

If you are pregnant, I do not think you are able to take Tylenol PM and I strongly suggest you don't until you seek advice from a medical professional.

You can call your pharmacy, an advice nurse, your doctor's nurse. If you do not know who to call, ask your hospitals operator who you can ask.

How far along are you? If you are in your first trimester, I'd advise against it. I had to take it off and on during my last 6 or so weeks at the advice of my OB/GYN. She assured me that it was perfectly safe for baby at that late stage.
