I take my pill every day, precisely at 5:30 pm without fail. Is the pill enough to prevent pregnancy on its own, or should I be using it in conjunction with other methods of prevention?

Do you use any other combinations besides the pill and condoms? We, personally, don't like condoms very much.

If condoms aren't an option, then there are several other options you can try. They are insufficient alone, but in combination with birth control they could be useful. There are female condoms, the withdrawal method, and you could also try to chart and estimate when your most fertile time of the month would be and then avoid sex at that time. I do not recommend either of those methods alone, but it might be worth a shot in combination with bc pills, in my own opinion.
I would contact a medical provider for further options.
Like the other posters stated, bc pills are still not 100% effective even when they are taken properly. It doesn't hurt to give yourself extra protection.

Good luck!

The pill by itself has always worked for me without fail.
That's likely because I don't have periods unless I am on the pill.

Other women may not be as protected and likely should use a condom too. I have heard of some women (as you can see above) have gotten pregnant on the pill, but it's not common.

If you had regular cycles before you went on the pill, I would use a condom in addition to the pill. Better safe, than sorry.

I've been taking the pill for several years and have probably been a little to risky at times. I've never had a pregnancy scare but a friend of mine did and she was much more cautious than me.

My boyfriend and I really don't like using condoms either. But to lean on the safer side we get the ultra thin kind, it's closer to going without. There have been times when not using a condom he'll pull out. I tried using a diaphragm once but it was weird for me, so I haven't tried it since then.

I really would venture to say it just depends on the woman, and the type of pill you are taking. But that's just a guess. It's always best just to be on the safe side I suppose. :]

The pill is almost 100% effective. If you take it every day, don't vomit, have diarreah, take antacids and some antibiotics (these will cancel it out) for at least 2 hours after taking it, you'll be fine. I took the pill for 15 years, never had a problem. I heard many stories of women falling pregnant on the pill and I asked my doctor why. She replied 'what these women tell their partners and what they tell their doctors are two different things' Interesting, isn't it? Hope this helps, Penny xx

Birth Control Pill + Pulling Out=No guest of honor at the justice of the peace.

I fell pregnant while on the pill and my partner using a condom (but it broke). I always took the pill at the same time every day without fail and i had a case of endometriosis PLUS my partner had just had one testicle removed because of testicular cancer. The information on the pill packet will nearly always say it is 99% effective if taken correctly and at the same time every day. But no form of contraception is 100% bulletproof. My son is proof of that :P
