It's almost 8 cents

It is almost 8 cents as the decimal (meaning 10) is two spaces to the left. In reality this would be rounded to the nearest 1 cent (i.e. 8) If this were in Australia, it would be rounded to the nearest 5 cents (i.e. 10 cents).
Hope this helps.

$0.079 is close to $0.08, which is 8 cents.

Beware, though, because some telecom companies have been claiming that their international rates are "point zero eight cents" rather than "point zero eight dollars". This is a hundred-fold difference.

It is my opinion that companies take advantage of consumer ignorance in order to make their prices seem lower than they actually are.

Here's some audio, hosted on YouTube, of a consumer who actually has to explain to a Verizon operator the difference between $0.002 and 0.002 cents.

1$ = 100 cents
$0.079 = 0.079*100 = 7.9 cents ~ 8 cents
