Try Gumtree, which I've listed below.

If you ae in urgent need of accommodation and obtaining a longer term lease, book your self into a temporary apartment, or hostel and do your searching when you arrive.

Monash University have a great accommodation help service, but sometimes you get better arrangements through Cheaper than Hotels - Melbourne, depending on your budget and requirements.

Hope this is helpful:

Try Rothmans Real Estate, they have student accommodation for your needs at Metro Student Accommodation, Preston which is on the direct tram line, close to shops, entertainment and cheap as you will get in Melb. All units are fully secure, as new, fridge bed desk air con, own bathroom, broadband internet included, washing machines, dryer, communal kitchen. Look up the web site for Metro Student Accommodation for some pictures and prices. Can recommend them as my son was there for 3 years. Great to deal with and quick to get back bond.
