I'm doing a research project about root beer and in order to have the ability to do the project I need a biography about a person related to root beer. For example, a biography book about Charles Elmer Hires. Thank you.

Lost lady, thanks for that mention of Barq's! ... how did I manage to forget good old Barq's - it is our favorite root beer here in New Orleans.

Philadelphia pharmacist Charles E. Hires was the first to promote root beer on a national basis by 1876.
He sold his product as a concentrate.

Edward Adolph Barq Sr. brewed and sold his own root beer concoction by 1898 in Biloxi, Miss.
Barq was a Parisian-trained chemist who had worked at a Louisiana sugar factory.

Here's a book title:
Marriott: The J. Willard Marriott story
by Robert O'Brien

The most interesting part of the book covers "the early days" of Bill Marriott's business, beginning with his opening a franchised A&W Root Beer stand with an 8-ft. frontage in Washington, D.C. The growth of that into the Hot Shoppes, airline catering, hotels and more is a fun and informative read.

Mr. Marriott purchased the rights to sell Allen and Wright (A & W) root beer in Washington, D.C., and on May 20, 1927, he opened a root beer stand with Hugh Colton.

I used to work with a guy we called Root Beer! That's probably not what you're looking for though.
