Magic Johnson hands down

his career average in assists is higher than nash's current production that makes reporters overate him

going to be hilarious when they look at his career stats and he never sniffs the hall of fame after ruining all credibility for the MVP award

after Magic the next best player in a tight race is the Big O who needs no introduction

Ever, its a toss up between Magic and Isiah with a slight edge going to Magic. For all you Stockton fans, he was a great player but repeatedly got abused by Zeke and really there's no comparison.
Active, Steve Nash is the only one who should even be put in the conversation. And he will make the Hall of Fame. No MVP hasn't made it and he's going to have 2 or three by the time he's done, probably one ring and 8-10 All Star game apearances as well as 5-6 first team all NBA's.

I think I have answered a lot of these questions. For the retired, I will have to pick the 6'9 Magic. He was incredible as a PG and he can play all positions. I did have to give a honorable mention for the Big O, who was and is the one player who averaged a triple double a season.

Active player will be Jason Kidd. I am sorry Nash fans, but I think Jason Kidd is still the best active player simply because he is an all-rounder. I admit his shooting isn't as good as Nash but he can surely play a team game! Look at the team now, He made Mikki Moore and Nachbar like super stars. Nash of course is up there with Kidd on that best active PG category but Nash really have more supporting case than Kidd.

hands down i would say Oscar Robertson, with Magic Johnson a close second. how can you deny a man that can average a triple double for a career? in a time when those type of skills were imaginary at best, the Big O made it a reality, and raised the level for all point guards who followed.
Magic did the same thing in the 80's, and thus i would give him 2nd place.

Earvin 'Magic' Johnson( huge performances in winning 5 titles in a time where there were a number of strong teams (unlike the 90s) one can only imagine what his numbers would have been like had he played longer), Oscar 'Big O' Robertson( Mr triple double...got jewelry after Lew Alcindor (Kareem )came out of college from that incredible UCLA run), Nate 'Tiny' Archibald...only guard to ever lead the league in scoring and assists...

magic is unquestionably #1, kidd is 2 and stockton is inches behind at 3.
magic had everything, i mean he played 5 positions in them final game of the NBA finals. 5 POSITIONS!!!
stockton falls short because he wouldnt have been as good without the mailman, but he was still the best pure point guard the league has ever seen.
kidd is at 2 because he is the new(ish) magic, but if he was 6-9 too i would put him at 1 because he puts up magic-like numbers at 6-3.but, unfortunately, he int 6-9 so we can only wonder what couldve been...

1. John Stockton - the duty of the point guard is to distribute and make his team better, and he did just that
2. Magic Johnson
3. Steve Nash - while he has 2 MVP's, he has a lot more weapons than Stockton.

Magic Johnson.

But how come no one has mentioned Isiah Thomas in their lists?

Kidd, Nash and Stockton = 0 championships, Zeke = 2 rings...
