Well that depends on a few things....is he getting help for his problem? Is he in denial of his problem? How severe is it?

If it's a problem that hes' trying to get help for then I would not want to give him up.

But if he has boderline personality disorder, OCD & an anger management problem...AND he doesn't think anything is wrong with him, then adios!

If they have a disorder and I already know them well, I wouldn't give them up unless they refused to get help. It also depends on the situation. I'm not going to be with a sociopath. If it's something like depression, an anxiety disorder, etc., it can be treated or managed. All people are imperfect, so I think we should give each other chances within reason. If the person is abusive and refuses to get help though, they are just going to ruin your life. You should stay away.
