though i swear i am doing everything right the frigging fuel cap will not go on for ages like it'll go on but i cant get the key out..its sposed to be able to turn to the left right so i can withdraw my key and no matter how i rationlize it..seems to be all down to screwing around with it for ages and then works for so reason at all. makes me look like dork in the gasser which is fine but i have slight paranoid fear that one day it will not go on and i will be trapped in gas station forever! does anyone else have this problem? what the heck is up with that?

Lightly apply downward pressure to the cap with you left hand while turning the key with your right hand. Do this when opening and closing the lid. it will relieve the pressure on the lock mechanism and should work properly. If not try what Gaurdai says, If that still doesn't work, take it back to dealer for a Warranty Replacement.

--With the gas cap off, try turning the key.
--If you still have the problem, I'd get a new cap or have the lock cylinder checked by a locksmith.
--If there's no problem, the tabs that lock to the gas tank could be mis-aligned - again change the cap.
--Something you might want to try yourself - buy some "grafite" for locks and squirt it into the lock cyl. It's a fine black powder, that's slippery and doesn't attract dirt & dust (don't use any kind of oil).
--Work the key in and out of the lock.
--If you have access to a wire wheel, use it on the key to smooth out the bumps & ridges of the key. They might be to sharp to easily slide of the lock.
