that's a peripatus, also commonly known as 'velvet worms'. There are many species and they live around the Southern Hemisphere in moist habitats (temperate and tropical rain forests). They look sort of like velvety caterpillar with lots of stumpy legs. The strings shooting out the front are sticky threads used for snaring prey. Peripatus are AWESOME!!! There are lots over here in New Zealand.

It is a caterpillar on a branch ejecting liquids. The liquid can be its excreta or for defence.

It is a peripatus. It also maybe a cockroach.
