spanking children??? We were having a discussion in my Psychology class and all 5 groups was for spanking . What do you think, are you for or against it?

i wouldnt say that im totally against it. i think kids need to be disciplined sometimes, some kids just dont understand if u "punish them" (by grounding, giving time outs, taking away privileges, etc..) but then theres a limit to everything. it shouldnt turn into abuse!

I am pro spanking depending on the situation. I believe in giving your child chances then punishment. I am not for beating your child and I know there is a difference between the two.

I do but only when they are round 2 - 3. And just a little smack on the bum or hand. Once they get past the age of 4, I think something else should be done.

i think all kids need a good spankin once in awhile, but my kids are now 6 and 4 and i think they are getting to old, i have been doing alot more, talking and less spanking and it has been more effective.

I tried it. It doesn't work and it makes the kid angry and frustrated.
I only hit them if they hit me or my wife. And that doesn't happen anymore since I stopped spanking.
It may work for others but not for us.

against. child abuse. and there are other ways to disipline children than physical harm.
