I need ideas for the project. I am writing a letter to the world as the last surviving Texan fighting against Mexico and my words are the only point of view the world has from a Texan. There isn't any paper, so I have to write on some object lying around before the Mexicans find me and kill me. Does anyone have any ideas for the objects? They can't be weapons of any sort and have to be big enough to write with.

Write on a tanned hide that a trader left in the Alamo. You can make "fake" tanned hide by using a brown grocery sack. Cut out a side of the bag (preferably one with no writing). Crumple it, flatten it back out with creases left in, and then soak it in water. Carefully, pull off little pieces around the edges so that it looks like a chunk of tanned leather which would not have straight edges. Then lay it out to dry. Once it is dried, you can write on it.

I loved Lillian's answer. But now, what are you going to write about?

Remember, you could freely have left at any time. Movement in and out of the Alamo was frequent. Travis, your leader, was militarily incompetent and only made the Alamo an issue due to his grandiosity and severe alcoholism.

But now, you're going to die and you're not even sure why. You just joined up because they promised you lots of land. You're a young man. You've believed Travis' lies that "help was on the way". So, infused with testosterone, dreams of a better life and misplaced pariotism. you write your final words.
