Well, this might be time consuming but you don't need to buy a software. If you have a cd burner, a blank cd-rw(rewritable), and Musicmatch Jukebox Player you can make mp3.
Step 1: Burn all the musics you want onto the cd-rw and remember that you are creating an Audio cd that you can play at home or anywhere.
Step 2: Now you should have a cd that play really clear music as the copies you have on you computer. If not, you have forgotten to choose the option to create an Audio cd that can be play on any cd player. If so, repleat step one and choose the audio cd for any cd player option.
Step 3: Open the 'Musicmatch Jukebox'. Play your cd for a while or until you are sure that the Jukebox is playing your cd. Press stop button.
Step 4: In the 'Musicmatch Jukebox', right under the 'Playlist Window', you would see the 'Copy from CD' button. Click on this, choose the songs you want to copy from the cd and proceed to copy the songs.
When the songs are copied back onto your computer, they now become mp3.
P.S. If you have a software that can rip a song from a cd, you can try that first instead of downloading Musicmatch Jukebox . I am not sure, but I think when you rip a song from a cd, it is in the mp3 format.
