I cant get more than 450mb on the card after that nothing else will go on. It says that it has 1.40gb of free space left. I got it as a gift with an mp3 player for Christmas so I dont have a receipt for anything. Is it defective or is there something im not doing right?

try reformatting it and then starting over. the card might have been messed up but a simple reformat will most probably fix everything

Your basically selection is to reformat it. does not sound like there is something needed like relatives photos (basically DS ROMS), so it is going to likely be secure. however you may attempt records restoration application, yet i don't be responsive to if it's going to artwork on a corrupted SD card.

good idea to format it, may be the card have virus.
