They do still rock, and the millions of fans they have worldwide agree with me. If you like their older music, there's no reason why you shouldn't like their newer music.
I'd recommend giving some of their more recent albums a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised if you listen with an open mind. What you'll hear are albums full of amazing musicianship, and songwriting. Some of the songs are hard rock, some are mid-tempo, and there are some ballads (just like their older music).
Also, I recommend checking their official website regularly for updates on the album they're currently recording. According to the band, it's going to be more of a hard rock album than "X" was (though X was amazing for what it was.)
Check it out, give it a chance, and keep an open mind. The reason Def Leppard has been around, and on top for so long is because they're truly talented musicians, songwriters, and performers who consistently offer great music and great live shows to their fans.

Yes, they are still together. They are putting together a tour as we speak. They are also working on a new album. As far as "killer tunes" goes, it's a matter of opinion. They have been kickin' *** for over 20 years (they are NOT 50 yet, duh to whoever said that) and can pretty much play what they like now. They have established enough loyal fans and are still able to get some new ones too. An album of cover tunes is what they have always wanted to do, so they did it. The next album will be new stuff and it's great. Stick around and check it out. You won't be disappointed!

Ouch! i imagine Def Leppard nonetheless rocks. even as i became little I had all their cassette tapes (now CDs). I actually have a 40 5 of Pour some Sugar on Me, the b-aspect is Ring of hearth. My famous music pre Hysteria is likely Bringin' on the Heartbreak... or Too overdue for romance... or photo... or Rock of a lengthy time period. Def Leppard will continuously rock!!

Good question. They are getting older and they have actually made quite bit of cash over the years but squandered a large portion of it. Hence the big sellout when they started penning tunes suited for the listening tastes of 14 year old girls. But it made them money. I'm sure as they got older a sense of urgency to make more money set in. Rock stars don't have pension plans, they need to create their own. Most of these guys really don't have any real world marketable skills past being a musician and name recognition, Def Leppard being no exception. They have done what they want to do, and seem to be content just sitting back, playing some cover tunes and enjoying life.

Band don't necessarily recycle the same types of material for decades at a time.
I, for one, dig some of the cool ballads they created over the years, like 'To Be Alive', 'Love' and 'Long, Long Way to Go'. Those songs actually helped turn me into the artist I am. I still write and record rock material, but the ballads I do were heavily influenced by Def Lepp's sound and approach....
