I think a lot of people do. For me, I have a very very very hard time trusting.

hahaha--that reminds me of a song from a really funny musical --done in community theaters--"I Love You , You're Perfect, Now Change" ---

But I've got baggage, emotional baggage, a plane load of baggage,
That causes much saggage, --everybody! --
We've got baggage, emotional draggage,
And we've been lugging around this baggage a long, long time.
The point is , it's useless and wasteful of time and energy to carry things from other past relationships, fears, problems,etc. into other present encounters or relationships with someone. It can only hinder what you could have with this person and make them doubt your sincerity or commitment if that's what you are wanting.
One needs to let go of past junk and move on with a fresh new start in order to be truly happy. This is how my honey and I view life and we give each other our complete trust and love with no stuff from the past getting in the way.

I travel light., no baggage or luggage, once in a grate whale there may be an over night bag but that's all.

I certainly do not as it's a very harmful thing to carry emotional baggage especilaly if you are going to maintain a healthy relationship as it's hard to go on with your future when you can't let go of your past. I am free to give my sweetheart all the love and respect that she deserves as she does with me.

I have in the past, even hauled someone else's junk for them too. Things are better now but it took awhile.
