I have one wall in my kitchen that has no power to the pluggins or the light above the sink. However, the dishwasher is built in on the same wall and has power. Every other light and pluggin in the kitchen works, what could be wrong??

The others have covered subject well so I won't repeat their statements. One other possibility is a tripped Ground fault plug. If any of your plugins have buttons on the face push the one that says 'RESET'

Depends on how old your house is and where it is located. Wiring codes are different in different places. But if you want to try and find the problem yourself 1st check the breaker box if it is ok you start by removing the outlets that are not working and checking to make sure the wire are all connected and contact is good. If you see a outlet that has only 3 wires in it you know that this is the end of circuit and that you have to check in the other direction. If the outlets that are not working look ok go to the next outlet that is closest and remove it. Remember it is hot so be careful with what you touch. 9 times out 10 a wire has come loose or is not making contact. If you are not comfortable working on electricity best find someone else to do this for you. It can get to be a headache. One thing I do when working on a problem like this is plug a lamp into one of the outlets that is not working so if you shake the wire that is giving you a problem you will see the light blink and you know that you have found it. Be Careful and Good luck.

Ok, seems like your plugs are, like most run in series. When there is a problem with a outlet, all of the outlets "down stream" quit working too.
First, check the breakers in the main fuse panel. Are they all in the on postion? Might just be a tripped or weakened breaker. If they are all good, find the right breaker for the dishwasher, it should be seperate, which is why it still works.
Turn off the breaker for the kitchen wall if so labeled, if you do not know for sure which one it is, you will have to go through the process of turning them all off and then turning them on one at a time and see what the energize. Label the breakers in the panel if they are not already. Power off!!!!! Check it with a power beeper. This is a neat little gadget that emits a chirping noise when its probe end is near electricity. Cost about $10.00 bucks at the hardware store.
If you feel competent with electricty, pull the cover plates off all of the affected plugs, and the pull the outlets out so they expose the wires. Make sure that all the wires are still hooked up. Lots of times, the wires are set into the push locks in the back side of the plugs instead of attached to the side terminals. Usually one of the power leads will have broke off or simply pulled out, reattach it with your insullated screwdriver. I assume you have followed the safety first rules and checked to make sure the power is off!! If you do not find a bad wire, it could be a bad plug. Especially if they are hooked up through the push locks, this causes all of the power "down stream" from a plug to be drawn through that plug causeing stress and crystalization of the internal components. The metal becomes more brittle with each over heating until it breaks. Also check the affected light fixture for broken wires or scorched wire nuts. Good luck and please be careful. If you do not feel up to this you can go to service magic .com and they will send 3 properly licensed and insured people to bid on your project. You can look at their work history and reviews of former clients so you are not completely in the dark on their work ethics.

Cheers, Chris

The diswasher is on a seperate circuit. So that doesnt mean anything.

You have a "series" of runs, each culmanating and starting in each outlet box. Remove the cover plates, unscrew and pull out the outlet plugs and you will find a broken wire in one of them. Probably the one closest to the circuit breaker box. Look at that one FIRST>
