i drive a company vehical and they made me turn in milage on from time i leave my house until i get to my first stop. it really hurt me on my taxes they called it, "non employee compesation". i don't think it's fair since i am on call from 7am-7pm. is this legal?

Maybe they should let you drive to work and back..leave their parked in the company lot..save them a lot of money and cost you a lot spending your own expenses for a while..

Well they can certainly make you report your milage to them, based simply on the fact that it is thier vehicle. As for the tax and payment ramifications of that reporting I cannot speak to. But the main question, the answer is most definatly yes. Just like they can make you turn in reports for your time and materials, just like they can make you submit proof that you are having the vehicle serviced properly, they can require you submit milage. A friend's company had to do that very thing because an employ was taking the company truck across state lines to the indian casino's while they where working, and during off the clock hours.

Re, the mileage adjustmen, thank the IRS, not your company.

Also, the lease agreement may be based on miles, or if theyown the car, depreciation couldbe by mileage.

Also, it would tell them when maintenance may be due.

do they pay for your gas??? if yes then sorry theres nothin you can do but if they dont and you keep track of your mileage and you get paid like so much per mile i think its like 35 cent or something but it helps out in the end otherwise im not sure what you should do
