I should know this, but I'm having trouble with the equations.

It's not the equation, hon, it's the elements. I believe your second entry is "silicon". Under room conditions, I believe that only chlorine and lithium react with water; the others just get wet.
Chlorine forms HCl, a strong acid and HOCl, a weak acid. Lithium, as an alkaline metal, is expected to form LiOH, which should be a strong base.

All I know is that Chlorine ions form a weak base-- aside from that, have you tried researching wikipedia?
