I just bought him today, yet each time I've fed him, he just swims around on the bottom of the bowl, never once going up to the top of the bowl to get his food.

It just needs to get used to its new surroundings. Just leave it be, you don't want to put too much food in because it's just dirty up the tank, and give it a day or two.

My daughter has 3 and they do the same until they get use to you .if you put to much feed in there they will eat it of the bottom when they get hungry. hers are really big now and just keep tapping on the glass lightly until they notice you and they will swim to the top.you only feed them once a day as you can overfeed and they will be belly up.good luck

because he is in a bowl. unless that bowl is a 20gallon,filtered bowl it's not big enough. goldfish produce TONS of waste and get very big. in bowls they are stunted, they don't grow on the outside but their insides continue to grow until they die. it's a slow painful death. also, to keep the ammonia levels at a good level you'll need to change the water everyday.

fancy goldfish:
young = 10gallons per goldfish
adult = 20gallons plus 10gallons for every additional goldfish

common (slim bodied) goldfish should be in a pond.

here's an awesome site that has everything there is to know about goldfish:

Hello,

he needs to adjust to the new surroundings and tank, so your fish will be fine,not forgetting fish can go for days without feeding,u might in the future want to get a air pump for filtration but for now im sure your fish will start eating in no time.

all the best

:-)

It's probably because your goldfish isn't accustomed to your house yet don't worry- My fish did the same then they started learning to adapt and soon began to eat. Your fish is fine :0)

It could take up to a week for your fish to get acclimated to its new home. Don't worry until at least then. Just remember to remove any food it doesn't eat so the food doesn't foul the water.

It often takes fish a few days to settle into their new environment. Give him a few days and he'll be just fine.
