By law it HAS to be. Some pharmacists make it exceedingly embarrassing for customers when they ask for this.

A planned parenthood clinic may be a better bet.

Emergency contraception (a.k.a. "the morning-after pill") is available at most women's health centers, or facilities that offer family planning services. Some facilities charge a small fee while others offer assistance to those with limited incomes (check with your local health department for more information). Depending on your age and the state you reside in, parental consent may be required before services can be rendered.

You can't purchase emergency contraception over the counter because it involves taking a combination of hormones (birth control pills containing potent amounts of estrogen and progesterone), which can impose serious risks if not taken properly. Also, EC is not appropriate for all candidates. Certain health conditions, such as previous blood clotting, may affect a health care provider's decision to administer the drug.

When considering the use of this medication, you have 72 hours from the time of unprotected intercourse to act. That means if you had sex on Friday around 8pm, your "cut-off" day would be around 8pm that following Monday. Sperm can live inside the woman's body for up to 72 hours, which further emphasizes the importance of taking action before the "window" closes.

Good luck.

If you're over 18 you can get it over the counter. You have to ask a pharmacist for it, but you don't need a prescription as long as you are over 18.

Edit: no, you can't steal it because you have to go up to the counter and request it, they don't just put it out on the shelf. Then you have to pay for it right there, you can't just say that you're going to pay for it at another register.

I don't know about your state but you do need to be 18 to purchase it. You have 72 hours from the time the condom broke to take the medicine--that said, if your state sells it over the counter, find someone tomorrow who's 18 to get it for you. If not, have the girl call up her gynocologist to get a prescribtion.

from what i know...no they don't but i live in california...what you can do is, go to planned parenthood. all you need is to take ur girl and fill out some paperwork. if she doesnt want her parents to find out (of course), then have her put she has no insurance. they give you the pill with confidence and no matter what your age is. hope you guys find a solution...ALSO YOU CAN ONLY TAKE THE PILL 2 OR 3 DAYS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. SOOO HURRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are supposed to be able to get it if you are over 18. You have to ask for it. There are some Pharmacists that are refusing to dispense it even though they have it. There is a lot of controversy over this right now.

Call your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. Look in the yellow pages or walk down to your local drugstore on the corner. They will answer you truthfully and the price is right. Free!
