why is it that u see all these commercials about how bad smoking can be, but yet u can go into a restaurant and drink all u want and then leave and drive home? If smoking is so awful then why are they still selling them? You never heard of pot killing anybody, but it's still illegal. There is scientific proof that smoking can kill you, but it is still legal. I smoke, and it annoys me to see these commercials. how do u feel about this?

I just quit smoking on Jan 1st this year but I do empathise with you. I used to hate the fact that smokers were demonised for partaking in a legal activity and yet illegal substance abuse (heroine for example) would simply evoke public sympathy and thousands and thousands of taxpayer dollars would be spent to "help" them despite the fact that firstly, they're illegal and secondly, they pose a huge threat to the community. I gave up smoking for personal reasons but I used to watch those ads and become more defiant about smoking purely because they really irritated me.

Actually, there is no proof that smoking kills, it’s just something taken as fact by the majority. Smoke is natural and the body can deal with it easily (ie. humans lived in caves for a long time and they were filled with smoke). It’s all only hype made by the lobby, but those hypocrites should actually put warnings on liquor bottles because it’s proven that those do in fact kill.

Doesn't bother me a single bit. I smoke and have done so for at least 30 years. I will smoke until I am ready to quit and nothing will change that.

Just check on the amount of taxes collected on a pack of cigarettes. Do you think the government wants to give up that income source entirely?
And the tobacco companies aren't about to voluntarily go out of business as long as people are willing to pay $7+ per pack! (less taxes, of course)

YOU know OVER eatting is really bad too but over half americans do that too. We do a lot of things that r not good 4 us.
