Yes. It is an asteroid that is orbits the sun within our orbit. It will come very close, I think, in 2012, and then very close in 2028 or 2032. They do not predict it will hit earth but it is predicted that when this happens, there will be no more hassle to fund those who watch the skies for us. There are those that are working on a way to deflect an asteroid should it present a problem. Hope they can pull it off if we need it. There was an asteroid last year or the year before that passed inside the moon's orbit and could be seen with the naked eye. It wasn't discovered until it passed by. I saw one in 1972 while waiting for Old Faithful to go off. It was the size of a burning golf ball with nothing to get perspective from. There is a great article and links about it-check The Daylight Fireball of August 10, 1972 by Gary Kronks. There are pictures of it taken from the Great Tetons. It didn't ever hit earth and I have a great picture of it I got from the front pages of the Billings Montana Gazette. I was too amazed to snap a shot. Wish I had.
