Cleaning house is not like conducting brain surgery. Ask you mom or mother in law to show you what to do if you are unsure. Washing dishes, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning toilets/bathtubs/sinks/refrigerators/stoves, changing the sheets and pillow cases on the beds, doing laundry, picking up the toys, and cleaning mirrors and windows shouldn't take more than a full day if you organize it in a list and just do it. You can do many things at once(start the laundry and while it is washing get the dishes done, and the vacuuming). You'd be surprised what you can get done if you have the oldest child or children help. They are capable of picking up clothes and putting away toys. Let them help put away their clothes too. This will also teach them to do things that will help your wife when she has her hands full with taking care of the new baby. With a little supervision from your mom or mother in law you could get this done in no time. Good Luck Mr. Mom!

I clean house for $20 an hour, in about 3 hours to 4 hours I can dust and clean a reasonably big house. Find someone to clean the house but make sure you tell whoever it is that you want them to teach you how to it is done. I'm surprised you have 4 children and have got away with not knowing how do clean. By the way I'm a man

What do you mean you don't know how?
Of course you do.
Cleaning up the messy house for your pregnant wife is a fabulous idea for a suprise. I bet she will be overwhelmed with such a great gift of your time & effort.
So just knuckle down & do the very best job you can. Get the kids involved too, & make it a family project.
Your problem is that you want it to be perfect for her, so you find the task to be a little intimidating.
Don't worry about it. Just do your worst. She'll LOVE IT!

You could try recruiting some family members or just do the best you can, I'm sure she would appreciate any effort that you make. Depending on the kids ages you might be able to get some help out of them. My granddaughters love to dust, vacuum, help with dishes and sweep the floors, their only 2 1/2 and 6, they don't do it perfect but that's how they learn. They also help fold clothes along with their big brother.

If you want to really surprise her then send her away for the day to a spa or an outing away from all the other kids and responsibilities she has now. Then hire a cleaning service to come in and then work with them and LEARN how to take care of the home.
It is long past time that the responsibility of of taking care of kids, home, husband and chores is left up to her.
Then when you see something that needs to be done you can continually surprise her by taking care of it instead of it always being left to her.

yes you can do it .your wife dose all the cleaning every day by her self.but if you need some help.just remember to read the labels on the cleaners before you use them just to make sure they wont hurt the surface you are cleaning.
get a baby sitter to watch the kids for a while
then get a few Friends or family members to help you
or call a house cleaner

Its always good to at least have the house smellin good, counters wiped with bleach or pine sol, dishes cleaned, bathroom wiped down, nothing on the floors,Oh! and clean clothes. I know sometimes pregnant women have sensitive smells but if she can tolerate pine sol or bleach it's always a plus, and or fresheners Glade clean linen smells really fresh. You can't really go wrong as long as the house smells fresh, trust me I love a clean smellin house.

depending on age of other children, ask them to help (use incentive-like take to a ball game or something). If kids are totally useless ask a co-worker, neighbor, sister/brother-in-law, someone at church or a friend or friends of wife. But let them know it's a surprise.

Try reading www.flylady.com. It will teach you how to do it. Just start with the kitchen sink and clean that the way it says on the website. Your wife will appreciate it. Then do what the rest of the website says.

well it is clean clean clean, one thing dust tables after you vacuum the floors, put washing in before starting on the house Mr eraser is good for cleaning marks on walls and frig, pine sol, leaves a clean smell plus cleans well, Mr clean also cleans good and you can put in it you dishwater and washing machine, don't mix bleach with anything, after you do all this, cook supper, and get kids bathed and in the bed, and then get up the next day and do it all over again,,, good luck.
