Looking for less known, more obscure. I have received lots of ideas but I am looking for more.
So far people have listed:
Kate & Leopold, Bleak House, Merchant Ivory Films, Cold Comfort Farm, Vanity Fair, Mansfield Park, BBC's North & South.
Still searching for more.
Thanks for any help!

You should check out that new show on Showtime when it comes on called "The Tudors." Granted, that's a little before the periods mentioned up top there, but it looks fantastic and sweeping.

Elizabeth - Along that same era as above, this a totally awesome film. Cate Blanchett is stunning.

Also, check out PBS's "Jane Eyre" miniseries. My mom and I watched it and simply ate it up. Such a terrific story and extraordinarily acted.

An Ideal Husband

A Little Princess - From the view of the children. This movie always makes me a little sad.

Gosford Park

Those're all that come to mind for England, because you've picked all of my favorites. ;) But if you feel like branching out to other countries, I recommend:

The Count of Monte Cristo

and

Brotherhood of the Wolf

The Bronte sisters are brilliant for that stuff, check if the BBC has made movies of Wuthering Heights, Shirley, Villette, and The Professor - they're all well-known period novels that have probably done the run as movies or telemovies. BBC also did Sons and Lovers which is great, but it's actually about 6 hours long.

The Forsyte Saga doesn't go back quite as far in history but is still a compelling mini-series out on DVD (A Masterpiece Theater production.)

I like your taste in movies!
