About 2.5 miles. Although original surveying showed the length to be 3 miles, It was shortened after a low part became submerged after a dam was built downstream around 90 years ago.

The island was named "Three Mile Island" on surveying maps at the turn of the century, supposedly because of its length. In truth, the island is now only 2.5 miles long, shortened by a half-mile when the York Haven power plant dammed the river near its lower end 90+ years ago.
