Why do most of these names sound made up? Don't try and be unique just for the sake of being unique... Think of what your child has to live with for the rest of their lives.

I think you are missing the point... made up names are names that sound like a bunch of letters where thrown together or names that are so incredible 'trendy'

My simple rule for names is if they cant spell it by kindergarten- they shouldnt have been named it. I lean away from names that are fruits, animals, months, stripper names (such as bubbles or candy), food, countries, athletes or movie stars, alcoholic beverages, cars, states or feelings. Bible names are good though.

I stay away from names that begin with LA, DA, NA , TRA and SHA.... and names that can easily identiy your culture (sad though- many employers till to this day will disqualify you because of your name because of preconceived ideas.)

Simple and straight. Beautful and yet exotic. those are good names, Strong and powerful also work for me!!!

Which names?

Oh, thank you! Normal people exist in the world.

Why is it in the last few decades, parents have such an overwealming need to be 'different'? Each child is special because they are unique, they don't need a made up trendy name to differentiate them.

I'd prefer my child to have an elegant and timeless name, rather than a name like Krystal or Kandy or Auroa or something vile. Remember, with a bit of luck these babies are going to be elderly citizens one day. I can't picture my grandma as a eelesha or something.

Get real people, just choose a GOOD NAME. For the record, my shortlist for our baby is Alexandra or Natalia for a girl, and Oliver or Lachlan for a boy. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but at least people have heard of them, and they're spelt correctly!

People do it because it is trendy. Personally, I picked a name for my daughter to be that is not particular popular at this time. That is how I choose to be different. However, her name will probably come back into popularity and my efforts will have been useless. I do not like the trendy names, but in all honesty, I figure to each their own, and I am glad I do not have to live them.

When I say trendy I mean names like Apple and whatever someone named their kid to do with pilot something or another..

I think it is because a lot of them are a bunch of letters thrown together in an attempt to sound trendy. There are also a lot of names that sound that way to us but are actually from other cultures and are either traditional or mean something to the parents.
I agree with the lady who said if it can't be spelled by kindergarteners, you need to rethink your choice. Mind you, most kindergarteners have trouble with names like Elizabeth or Margaret and they are well known British names.
I personally have thing about names that could be a boy or a girl. Mine is one of those and everyone expects me to be a guy. I hate it!

Now I am a name person. My name is very unique and I was born in the 70s. My three children each have names that are not everywhere. My oldest child's name is a combination of my name and her father's name- Kijon. My youngest daughter is Kaebreon (kay- bree-ahn). Her middle name Alidrian, is combination of two names. Aaliyah and Adrian. Aaliyah did not sound good with Kaebreon and Adrian sounded more like a boy name. My son's first name is a name of a great athelete but he was not named after this person. I picked it because where I live you don't hear it much. His name is Cassius. I've said before that to me my children are one in a million and therefore i felt that, like me, their names should be one in a million. It wasn't out of trying to be unique. It was making my children their own person through their names.

I named my daughter Ryleigh..
I changed the spelling on the end because I think that "leigh" looks more feminine than "lee" or "ley" or "li"...
(Rileigh just looked funny, so that's why the "y" is there)
It is still pronounced the same way, but I wanted people to know that she was a female when they saw her name.. such as on an attendance list, or her mail..
My name is Roni, and I am always mistaken for a boy... I hate that.
But I like the idea that a name can be for a boy or a girl..
So sometimes, there really IS a reason someone changes the spelling of a name..

I hate how people spell completely normal names all messed up because they think its being unique. spelling a name with like 5 "y's" or a bunch of astupid letters together is not making it unique. its still said the same way, just spelled stupid. and when these kids go to look for jobs in the future it will actually make them look less intelligent because their name is spelled the way it is even though the person didnt name themself. like Krysta, Adym, Aydyn, Jaymee, Camryn...it just looks like you cant spell and it looks made up. I know exactly what you mean. I really dint care what people name their kids. go ahead and name then what you want to, but dont complain when your kids name gets spelled wrong all the time, mispronounced, mistaken for a girl when its a boy or a boy when its a girl and when they dont get a job in the future because the position goes to Krista, Adam, Aiden, Jamie and Cameron because they look like they can spell their own name.

I agree. It's pretty selfish of the parent to name their child some ridiculous name just because it's unique. Kids are ruthless. The child will get made fun of nonstop. Originiality isn't always "cool". Your kid has to live w/ that name for the rest of his/her life.
Think about when your parents named you. Would you want a messed up name? And if you have one and like it, doesn't mean your child will too.

I see your factor, i'm going to respond to definitely and from my opinion, so i wish no one receives offended, in spite of the actuality that i'm no longer time-commemorated to lie just to look wonderful at here. Q1~ To me, that is whether it particularly is spelled weirdly or has too many sounds occurring. (a number of my names have been called this, yet particularly, they're professional names in basic terms from yet another lifestyle the different individual does not understand, so which you may call it "lack of understanding" i think) Q2~ To me, a widespread call, is one that has grow to be widespread for regardless of reason (possibly pop lifestyle) and is relatively over used, maximum linked with the superb suited 20 or so names, yet i'm no longer too specific approximately that because of the fact lots of the superb suited 20 are sturdy sturdy names that have been around for some years! So.. i think renowned names are ones that "seem" like the guy is making an attempt too puzzling to return for the time of as innovative, unique and modern-day.. which often they do no longer Q3 ~ No theory, if it has a definite sound to it that feels like a "renowned" call, it may seem such as you have mushed 2 names jointly to objective and be unique and fashionable on an analogous time? this autumn~ nicely.. I genuinely tend to hate the "renowned" names besides, in basic terms because of the fact they are not my sort or too familiar, yet i additionally hate particularly "classic" names that seem coming back. human beings might use "renowned" as an excuse to love/hate it. Made up, i think of may be wonderful, it relies upon on the call, maximum names have got here approximately in history from different names or issues mushed jointly, so as which will continually exchange. as long as that is readable, pronounceable and ideal to that lifestyle, i think of that is wonderful wish it particularly is clever! :)
