Justice Department report accuses the FBI of underreporting its use of the Patriot Act to force businesses to turn over customer information in terrorism cases, according to officials familiar with its findings. The FBI failed to send follow-up subpoenas to telecommunications firms that were told to expect them
Overall, the FBI underreported the number of national security letters it issued by about 20 percent between 2003 and 2005, the officials said. In 2005 alone, the FBI delivered a total of 9,254 letters relating to 3,501 U.S. citizens and legal residents.

Is this what we've become?

we are not the British. We are the original republic built on the idea that we have freedoms that are untouchable by the government.

I'm sorry to say, yes it is what we have become. I don't think there would be a way to change this. Everyone knows this government is corrupt. I feel there is nothing we can do to change this. I pray for peace and for our society to realize what we are doing to ourselves. Nothing our government is doing, is for the best. It is not for our own interest, but for the politicians and military to strengthen its grip on the world with influence and muscle. I love this country and sad to see what we have become. I'm sorry to say but in order to have peace we must have revolution.

The people couldn't be more afraid. Life is stressful. Just imagine coming home from a hard day of work and having your hubby tell you to come see this video you agree with. Sad thing is, the last thing on a Christian Republican's mind is storming the white house. When it should be the first.

Since your soo mad. If the FBI and Cia stoped this act... and then 1 month later lets say... 5,000 people die from an attack on a chemical plant... you wouldn't blame them? Although this is highly unconstitutional ^^^<< that is the reason why they are doing it. Because you demand it from them and they don't know any other way to do it.

Funny how concerned you are - I just met a Home Land Security guy yesterday at my pharmacy. He told me they have been listening to phone calls for years. They changed the name of the group & some news network "discovered" that they were listening to calls - suddenly it was a big deal. I told him to feel free to listen in on my calls as I have nothing ti hide. If it will keep me safe tell them to turn over the records. They turn over your credit records to every credit card
company that was to junk up your mailbox with a "pre-approved" offer. I want to continue to be safe & since 9/11
I have been safe.
When our Fore Fathers wrote the privacy laws, they had no idea of the power the Internet & cellphones would give terrorists.

I agree we cannot allow the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security run amok, as we have allowed the IRS, but we must also remember that there is a group of that wants to take over the world and don't care what they have to do to get it.
We need to allow more lea way during war time. Since I have nothing to hide, I don't care if they listen to every phone conversation I have. But, again, we must make them accountable.

In all fairness, other countries, such as Britian, require all citizens to relinqish nearly all their private information to the government. Their call records, detailed purchase records, everything. The difference is, of course, the British government is more associative with the people and much more responsive, so they feel more comfortable doing that. I Must agree that it is outlandish what they have done with the PATRIOT Act, the things they have done are everything but patriotic.

Cute puppy. Bad message. We did not have the tools to track and convict terrorists or supporters. Times change, had to be done.
