Not really prolong it. But you may have a more difficult labor if you aren't moving around that much during the pregnancy. Keep active and walking helps the labor along.

I would think it depends if it is doctor (scrict bedrest) recommended or not. The majority of the time strict bedrest is for a very good reason, such as preterm labor, bleeding etc. If you are just lazy that is not good. Sometimes, not walking at all can cause a few more pains than otherwise. Pay attention to your signs. Also, if you are not doing some form of excercise, then you may have more difficulty managing your weight, or losing weight afterwards. Strenuous excercise is not good, but your body needs some form of excercise. It would not prolong your pregnancy.

I walked around a lot when I was pregnant. I worked full time at a job where I was on my feet almost 8 hours a day until about 2 weeks before I had my daughter. And then I went into the "nesting" phase and I would clean the house from top to bottom for a good part of the day. I was 10 days late and they had to induce me and break my water manually. I have heard that staying active helps bring labor on but that wasn't the case for me.

you mean be lazy and do nothing? its not good for you or the baby and more than likely you will have a hard labor if you do this. pregnancy is 40 weeks (9months) why would you want to prolong it to begin with its not really healthy for the baby because of the myconium(baby poop) they can ingest it and that can cause lots of problems with breathing and brain functing. you need to get up and walk around and squat and excersize all that you can. get your blood going to keep your heart healthy so that you can have a natural birth and not a heart attack.

I was put on bed rest for preterm labor at 23 weeks and didn't deliver until 37 weeks - but I was on a Terbutaline pump. All in all though I would recommend getting up and around as much as possible (unless directed not to) because that was the worst of all three of my deliveries including twins.

No..You need to walk around because you need to circulate your blood. Unless you are on bedrest. Other than that try to stay on your feet and walk. It will help you on your delivery.
