Sure, you can keep a lot of small stuff in them. Fix one of what ever is inside to the side or lid of the container so you'll always know what's inside without having to search through the lot when looking for something.

1. If you have trouble with ants getting into your hummingbird feeder, you can drill a small hole in the bottom of the film canister and slip it over the hook for the feeder and it will stop the ants from climbing the wire to get to the feeder.
2. You could fasten 3 to 5 of them together in a circle (using craft wire) with the lids off and make a small vase or silk flower arrangement.

Good for a tool shed and storing small nuts, bolts and washers. Also good for keeping small change in in your car so it's not all over the place, You can keep spices in them(wash out first) That way you can keep the large container in the pantry but keep the smaller one out on the counter top, just label.

I use them to hold various and sundry small parts (mostly jewelry related). I like the clear ones better, but I just mark the caps on the black ones so I know what's in there.
They're also good for testing chemicals on small test pieces of metal, etc. to make sure the object will react they way you want it to.

You can create a simple set of percussion instruments by filling the the containers part way with small dried beans or rice, and then sealing them. The resulting maracas-like sounds can be fun, for children and for adults who remain child-like.

First off, most placed that develop film will recycle them for you, if you want. Second, I have used them to store beads, sequence, needles, and anything else small... just label them.
Third, my family camps annually at a beach that has quarter-operated showers, the film canisters are great for storing our quarter supply and are water-proof, you just throw them in your shower bag. Lastly, film canisters are great to make geocaches, if you are in to that sorta thing, or know anyone else who is. www.geocaching.com, the best hobby ever!
Good luck

They work well for storing seed beads by colour, just be sure to label them well. Also good for storing small buttons, paperclips, safety pins, etc.
