Because women have sexual urges just like men do! Just like the fellas, most women act out on those sexual urges in their late teens or early twenties at the latest. Since most women don't get married til their late twenties, very few of them are virgins when they get married.

And why should they be? If the guys are out there doing it, why shouldn't the ladies have some fun?

From a woman's point of view...
Virginity was really a bargaining tool in days of old for the father to be able to trade or barter his daughter for lands or livestock. It was also a way for Lords and Land Barons to combine their holdings by marrying the daughter thus increasing holdings and providing protected lands.
For the most part culture is really what defines the "rules" of virginity and most women coud really care less unless they have been programmed to believe otherwise.
It is men who place the standard of purity or desire for a virgin not women and truly it all boils down to an ego stroke for the male to say he "took" someone's virginity.
Seriously, would you rather make love with someone that knows what they are doing or someone who is inexperienced and has no idea how to please?
Not to mention the pain that women have to endure when the hymen is torn, trust me it is not pleasant and romance it all you want....there is no pleasure or ecstasy involved.
So it is mostly a male oriented tradition and one of those that is truly archaic.
It is and should remain a matter of choice with each individual. The saving of oneself for marriage is not very logocal when you think about it. What's really to save? a piece of skin? What is truly significant about that?

i don't know about "almost all girls".
but i think it usually it takes 2 people to lose their virginity together.
i know it sounds strange, but i know of some families where for a boy to lose his virginity it's almost celebrated! but when a girl loses her virginity it's frowned on. or worse.
so maybe in some strange way these girls are trying to gain some kind of sexual equality by sleeping around (?)

Virginity is regarded well up to a point, and it depends where you live.
